Cloud migration success – Worldscale Association's application transformation journey
NetSec were approached by Worldscale Association, who supply a unified system of establishing payment of freight rate for a given oil tanker's cargo. Worldcale was established in 1952 by London Tanker Brokers’ Panel on the request of British Petroleum and Shell. NetSec were engaged to support with a transformation project focused on migrating a key application to the cloud.
The challenge
Worldscale were facing issues directly related to hosting on-premise with limited resources to attend the hosting sites. Alongside that they also felt as though they lacked resiliency causing events such as failovers to require manual intervention.
These challenges limited Worldscale with the ability to maintain, improve, scale, and respond to ever increasing operational demands.
The solution
Worldscale harnessed NetSec’s Consultancy and Managed Service Support to migrate the application to the cloud, ongoingly maintain, secure, and improve the new cloud-based environment.
We provided on-hand accredited and experienced infrastructure engineers
We migrated the physical appliances to Microsoft Azure
We bolstered the cloud environment with seamless high availability and load balancing
We implemented proactive security and health monitoring on every component of the cloud infrastructure
The key project focus was to reduce cost, increase resiliency, and to bridge the gap with specialist infrastructure support.
The Value
Decreased downtime: Through implementing best practice architecture, we have provided Worldscale with a resilient infrastructure significantly reducing downtime.
Reduced costs: Migrating the environment to Azure reduced costs of co-location data centre's, engineer resources, and administration. Our Managed Service Support offering was a compelling solution compared to managing in-house.
“We now have a fully resilient and secure environment, that can serve our growing userbase for the foreseeable future. NetSec have led on this every step of the way, and we have felt reassured all the way through to the successful delivery stage.” – Database Administrator, Worldscale Association
Upgraded infrastructure: We upgraded all key components of the infrastructure ensuring compliance, security, and support were achieved at all times.
